Everyday Math Assignment for Tuesday, April 28, 2020
|
|
Note: Make sure you check the weekly calendar. Returning students (Ret. students) have certain sheets and students going into kindergarten have certain sheets. If you look at the column that's headed "Age cycle" you will be able to see what your child needs to work on and the day. I will be deleting the previous homework on Wednesday so not to confuse anyone.
Happy Numbers
Dear Parents,
Due to the school closure, our class has an option to learn math online using Happy Numbers. It’s a web-based PK-5 math tool that moves children along at their own pace based on responses and provides helpful feedback after any errors. Although the exercises are all fun, interactive, and visually appealing, don’t be fooled! Your child will be gaining valuable practice in important math skills.
Follow these simple steps to use Happy Numbers at home:
1. Go to HappyNumbers.com
2. Click the “I’m a Student” button
3. Enter our class number (729907) for returning students and (514715) for those going into kindergarten.
4. Select your child’s name from the class list
5. Enter your child’s password (see your child's password in your message box on ClassDojo)
The first task, PreK students will start from the very beginning. It’s recommended to use
Happy Numbers 15-20 minutes a day, up to 3-5 times a week.
This is a free program until the end of the school year. I will tracking the students' progress daily!

The story I read at the Pop Up Pre-K on 4/1/2020
Homework due Wednesday, April1, 2020.
Reduce, Reuse Recycle
Dear Pre-K Families,
Since our circumstances prevent us from being together, I would like to continue with our NEW Study of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
"Most of us don't spend much time thinking about trash and garbage. We might give the problem some thought when our community needs a new landfill, a crisis about dangerous waste arises, or litter gets out of control. But then we often forget about the ever present challenge of dealing with trash and garbage. We think studying how to reduce, reuse, and recycle trash and garbage will engage children because they are familiar with and curious about the topic.
As we study trash and garbage and how we can reduce, reuse, and recycle, we will learn concepts and skills in literacy, math, science, social studies, the art and technology. We will also developing thinking skills to observe, investigate, ask questions, solve problems, make predictions and test our ideas."
What You can Do at Home
"Talk with your child about trash and garbage. Help raise your child's awareness of the kinds of trash and garbage your family creates each day. If you recycle at home, help your child take responsibility for sorting items into your family's recycling boxes."
On going- Everyday Math-Bean Bag Counting. Use the bean bag that you made last week or stuff an old sock or mitten with un-popped popcorn or dried beans and close them with a string or rubber bands. Have your child practice catching the bean bag. After practice time, ask questions such as: Can you toss and catch your bean bag three times? Fives? Eight times? Allow children ample time to toss, catch, and count with their beanbags. challenge children to see how many times they can toss their beanbags into the air and catch them.
On going- Count pennies, beans, pasta or other items that you can find around the house. First try 10, 15, 20.... Increase as your child is able. ( Look for the sheet with this message for other household items.) (On going)
Don't forget to go to "Just 4 Parents" to go to educational links for your preschooler for fun learning activities.
